Is a point-to-point ticket between London Terminals and Stevenage valid via Cheshunt and a walk through Hertford between the two stations?

As far as I can tell, no it isn't - there are, by definition, no through services; the only mapped route is via Finsbury Park and Alexandra Palace (and then either via Hatfield or via Hertford North); and the distance via Cheshunt and Hertford East/North is 5mi49ch longer than the shortest route to Stevenage (via Hatfield) so it's nowhere near within 3 miles. There are also no relevant easements that permit it, as far as I can tell. However, the London Terminals data feed seems to think that Liverpool Street is an appropriate London Terminal - quite why I'm not sure.

Indeed, I saw on NRE that Liverpool Street was an also acceptable London Terminal.

I suppose I could buy a return ticket to Hertford (all stations) and buy a separate Hertford North to to Stevenage return.

No it isn't. It's not a mapped route and it's more than 3 miles than the shortest route to London Terminals.

Remember also that you can use Oyster/Contactless to Hertford East so depending on time of travel, railcards etc this could be a cheaper option.

Thanks. Not sure what time of day yet but over half-term.

Anyone figured out why NRE allows Liverpool Street on this journey?

The Hertford walk is not allowed, but NRE does allow Stevenage - Enfield Chase - Enfield Town - Liverpool Street.

Via the Enfield walk is within 3 miles of the shortest route so is therefore allowed.

Many thanks rdwarr for that twitter post. I will make sure I have it easy to access on my phone when I get around to the journey.

I'm not sure you can take validity of a Huntingdon-London ticket as being prescriptive of a Stevenage-London one? Is BoJ allowed on both parts of the Huntingdon ticket?

In the current data, both are allowed.

I'm happy to take the Twitter response as Gospel. It is a good point to ask why this route allowed for Huntingdon isn't allowed for Stevenage according to some posters on here.

When you look at a map, I can't see why people would take umbridge with this given London commuter routes often have interavailable parallel routes that are accepted without question, particularly in times of service disruption.
