I'm travelling to from London to Redhill tomorrow afternoon for a meeting. Anytime Day Return is £24.30 which is more than I remember it being a few years ago. London to Coulsden South Anytime Day Rturn is £16.00, London to Gatwick has a myriad of fares which are as cheap as £23.10 for a 'Thameslink only' Anytime Return. Ignoring Gatwick, even Horley has an Anytime Day Return at £24.80 and Reigate at £24.90

I seem to remember that Redhill had 'Thameslink only' fares the last time I made this journey. It seems that these have been abolished leaving only the Any Permitted whereas stations nearer and further from London have retained them.

Does anyone local to the area know what's happened?

The ticket starting from London Thameslink to Redhill or Horley is £23.10. It is routed not Underground which allows travelling on both Southern and Thameslink services and starting as far as London St Pancras, but without validity from London Victoria or any other southern London terminal stations.

There are cheaper fares

London Thameslink to Redhill is £23.10 - this may be what you were thinking of for 'Thameslink only' fares.

The Oyster / Contactless fares are £12 peak and £7 off peak.

Interesting, thanks. I'd got it in my head that it was a Thameslink only fare but might be mis-remembering.

I don't remember a Thameslink only fare at Redhill, not least because prior to May 2018 there weren't a lot of peak time Thameslink services to use it on.

Isn't there an Off Peak Day Return fare from London Terminals to/from Redhill priced at £13.30? Route "Any Permitted". Travel after 0929.

Presume this would include travel originating from London Bridge / London Victoria / City Thameslink / London Blackfriars and possibly a few other locations.

An Off Peak Day Return from London Thameslink to/from Redhill (route Not Underground) would be £13.40. Travel after 0929.

Are these fares no longer available / not suitable?

Looks available to me - I can get an itinerary for this ticket. There are ways to undercut the Anytime Day Return to Redhill, but doesn't work off peak.
