Just to add — in practice, many drivers are happy to drop staff off at a point along the way, especially if it’s on the direct route to the station. Some even offer it themselves without us asking, as long as it doesn’t require a detour.

Of course, they’re not obliged to, and I never implied otherwise ( I used the word request in my previous post)— it’s entirely at their discretion, and if they refuse, we respect that. I was simply sharing what often happens in good faith, and no one’s encouraging misuse.

I appreciate the concerns about rules and policy implications, but there’s a difference between quietly requesting something within reason and exploiting a benefit. We all want to keep the system running smoothly.
That may be, but posting this so brazenly on a public forum absolutely can and will lead to investigations. Once again, and for the avoidance of all doubt: being dropped off (or picked up) anywhere other than the designated booking changes the legal definition of the staff taxi service.

It isn’t particularly hard to work out who you are internally either - I don’t mean that as a threat, but TfL do monitor these forums and it’s something to be aware of.

I would suggest that any further comments about staff taxis are kept to the internal Yammer/Viva Engage platform.

I want to make one thing very clear: my intention in commenting was simply to share practical, lived experience in a respectful and transparent way — not to encourage misuse, bypass rules, or cause any issue.

I said from the start that it's a request, not a right, and that drivers are under no obligation. In many cases, they voluntarily offer it if it's along the route. I believe it's important we speak honestly about how things actually operate — and nothing I said contradicted policy or promoted misconduct.

I don’t think it’s fair to threaten staff for contributing in good faith. Suggesting investigations or trying to “work out who people are” based on a basic discussion is disproportionate and quite worrying. Forums should be a place for peer support, not intimidation.

That said, I’ll step back from this thread and leave it at that. I trust others can see the difference between honest discussion and misuse.

Don't worry I found that advice useful and it's an experience you shared. Hinting that your job might be at risk for an experience you were offered is weird. What I gathered is that the culture of TFL staff, regardless of the department, stays the same :). Like you said if the driver didn't want to, they wouldn't.

I think the taxi discussion has run its course here, if we can please keep to other topics.

Thanks to everyone who showed support and understood the intention behind my comment — I genuinely appreciate it. I was just sharing an experience that’s common and handled at the driver’s discretion, nothing more. I’ll respect the request to move on from this topic now, but I just wanted to say I’m grateful for the respectful and understanding responses. Stay safe, all.

Hi all, I know it’s not a good idea to estimate when one may get their call up for a training date, but I was wondering if anyone knew the most recent month the recruitment team has reached for offering training dates for CSA2 full Time candidates?
