After recently applying for the trainee train driver role at Blackpool North, only for the job to be withdrawn a couple of weeks later, I am considering applying for this role as a foot in the door. Has anyone got any experience of starting in a similar role and progressing on to conductor or driver? Thanks.

Started for Northern as LPO mid 2015 (known as rpa back then), started drivers course beginning of this year, there are significantly more vacancies advertised internally than externally.
