Hi,

Sorry if this has been discussed to death elsewhere, but I'm just curious, does anyone know what's happening with this project? The most recent news on the website is dated 16th February 2007, and it says 'The first refusal lasts for a period of three years. There isn’t a moment to lose!'. I know (or hope) that there are all kinds of official wheels in motion behind the scenes that can't be talked about, but if this three year option expires next February, isn't time getting a bit tight?

p.s. For the record I think this is a potentially fantastic project, and I know that it's a volunteer project and they can't devote all their time to writing on the internet (unlike lazy slackers like me), but I have to be honest, when I see a website where the news page hasn't been updated for more than two and a half years, I begin to wonder if the fire has gone out, if you know what I mean...

The "Top Shed" has been included in the Atkins Feasibility Study, which, if approved, GCR/GCRN will get the funding to:

Bridge "The Gap", including refurbished bridge above canal, and bridge over the MML. Also, a link to "Top Shed" will be provided. Remove old Loughborough Shed.
Rebuild Workington (IIRC) Steam Shed on refusal site with link to G-GCR.
Improve signalling off the MML onto the GCRN, for both G-GCR and Gypsum trains
Rebuild and reopen Ruddington Station.
New line to Nottingham Greenwood, to link the NET and the City;
Possibilities of double-tracked mainline Loughborough - Ruddington
New stations at Loughborough Midland High-Level, and Nottingham Greewood.

(I would like East Leake to open, but the idiots who built houses next to the railway will complain!)

Brandon.
