The assumption is yes but since Scotrail have an alcohol ban on stations and trains, I'm not relying on that assumption.

Tried Mr G. Oogle but decided here might be the quickest way to get an answer.

Any input appreciated

Time they remove the ban on ScotRail. Makes no sense and was a 'temporary' COVID measure. You can have a beer on LNER, XC, TPE, Avanti, Caledonian Sleeper, LUMO no problems in the same country but ScotRail, uh huh.

In stations? On trains, certainly and the ban I recall was on consumption and also carrying ‘open’ containers where a ‘carry-oot’ was deemed offensive at the gate line. I doubt anyone buying a bottle Of M&S plonk has to worry much - unless they open it. There are & were a number of licences bars in the station too and were/are unaffected by it. It was NEVER a Covid measure, it’s been in place for years to try and curtail Ayrshire beach parties.

To be fair I did a train trip with a friend up the highlands and no one was over bothered about our wine which we decanted into flasks outside the station for onboard consumption :)

I'm traveling south from Waverly tomorrow on Avanti and wanted some for consumption but didnt want to get it too early (as it goes warm and fizzes up).

M&S here I come.

Thanks

You will not have any trouble with having unopened alcohol on your person on Scotrail services.

Haymarket's M&S sell it too, but it aint cheap, then again most station shops are expensive.

I'd assume yes, though a cheaper alternative may be the Sainsburys Local in Waverley Mall

Sainsbury's Local, Princes Mall, Princes St, Edinburgh EH1 1BQ - actually part of the station - will cater to your needs

I find it interesting in England the station WH Smiths will also offer booze too.
