A fatality at Mortlake at around 10.00 caused major disruption on the Windsor line in and out of Waterloo late this morning. Reading and Windsor services were diverted, with most going via the Hounslow loop, and a few reversing at Virginia Water or at Twickenham and going via Woking or Kingston respectively. Hounslow and Teddington loop services were cut short or diverted (see below for one example). Services started to return to normal after a few hours.
One report says that the casualty was a teenage lad, no other details have so far been forthcoming.
I was on the Waterloo to Waterloo via Teddington service, boarding at Kingston, leaving there on time at 10.29, to go to Strawberry Hill, arriving there on time. The guard announced that it would be going to Twickenham, then reversing, returning to Waterloo via Kingston. The Real Train Times log shows this in a rather confusing manner.
