My daughter wants to visit her friend in Exeter.

She has a 16-25 railcard. She would travel from Manchester on a Friday after 09.00 and return on the following Sunday leaving Exeter late afternoon
(say 16.00 - 18.00).

She would be looking for any weekend from mid October to mid November.

What are the best splits for such a journey?

Thanks in advance

Is she happy to be tied to specific trains?
Then splitting at Stoke-on-Trent and Bristol Temple Meads has proved successful for me in the past.

When I travel back from Exeter to Gloucester, I always split at Bristol TM too myself, so I'll second that one.

I have had a close look at the suggestions. Thanks for your input.
For an outward journey on Fri 26th Oct(09.27) with a 16-25 rail card I've come up with the following table which involves a change of train at New Street.

The direct Fare is £26.40
Splitting at BHM £28.05
Splitting at BHM and BRI £26.05
Splitting at BHM and CNM and BRI £23.40

Man to BHM direct is £7.90
Man to BHM splitting at SOT is £9.55
