I have heard promised dates for TPE class 802 from Leeds but all blew over until I saw 1 enter at 12:06 to Liverpool via Victoria.
I had to go for my regular pacer to Morecambe but it was due back into Leeds at 15:21 but was held up due to a delay with a backlog of other trains so I managed to get some of the first pictures of it.

That isn't a Class 802.

Well they must be scarce as this is the first I’ve seen but just checked with Wikipedia and looks like we are promised many different 5 carriages as the 185 trains are just so hard to get a seat or even move on.

Not scarce enough that these are some of the first pictures, there are thousands.

They have been on test for quite some time all around the North.

well testing is no way equivalent to actually in service

Of course not, although i'm not sure of the relevance that is to the thread, pictures or what class of train it is/isn't.

As you mentioned crowding on a Class 185, hopefully they will provide a nice step up in capacity. There are mentions from a few members here that have travelled on them already and the consensus seems to be positive.

Just apologising that I can’t venture to photograph trains when they aren’t being used, other impirtantancEs come first.

There is only one unit in service at present.

That will be why this is the first but we know how magical the first sighting of a train in service is.
I know 31 are meant to be on order but how many 5 carriages in total units will there be and how many 3 carriage class 185’s will grad to TransPennine, I heard it’s hard to get any space or a seat in their but fast service to Manchester.

I’m checking to see if anyone knows, surely there’s enough class 185 to always double south TransPennine and you can get the odd 2 by 3 carriages on a Saturday.

13 x Class 68 + mark 5 coaches for Liverpool - Scarborough and Manchester Airport - Middlesbrough services
19 x Class 802 bi-mode units for Liverpool - Newcastle - Edinburgh and Manchester Airport - Newcastle services

There are also 12 x 5-car CAF class 397 EMUs being delivered for Manchester/Liverpool - Glasgow/Edinburgh services via the WCML, replacing class 350s.

This is intended to permit the remaining North Transpennine Manchester - Hull and South Transpennine Manchester Airport - Cleethorpes services to be worked largely by pairs of class 185s, the latter between Manchester and Sheffield. It was also the plan that 22 class 185s would leave the Transpennine franchise once the new trains are in service, but that number may be subject to change.

Isn't it six coaches from Manchester to Cleethorpes? Thats what TPE said.
