1R19 07:00 Manchester-London is no longer in the new timetable, having only been re-introduced recently.
ECS 5R19 has now appeared so hopefully 1R19 itself will appear soon.

Newquay branch starting to come in now too.

So this summer, there'll only be scheduled direct London - Newquay services on Saturdays.

The improved hourly service between Par and Newquay is now expected "sometime later this year" but definitely not from the May timetable change.

Looks like some of the Plymouth-London services are not in yet which could be the ones that extend to Newquay.

Yes that’s what I was about to say. Several services don’t appear uploaded just yet.

Initially some of the new Newquay branch trains were showing as unadvertised and CAN in RTT but have now disappeared altogether. This may be because most if not all the crossings were shown as not stopping?

Network Rail's website says:

Network Rail said:
Network Rail has three phases of work:
[...]
Install new digital signals – complete September 2025
[...]
Hourly trains will run between Newquay and Par from autumn 2025. This will more than double the current service.
The above taken from https://www.networkrail.co.uk/running-the-railway/our-routes/western/mid-cornwall-metro/

Pity that the improved hourly service won't be in place in time for the summer season, when it would likely be most needed, but I guess that the improved service will start when the seasonal trains from London Paddington come to an end until 2026.

It’s probably just a way of ‘deactivating’ the paths without deleting them in planning systems, as they will be needed soon.

Maybe a way of killing off the long distance trains to Newquay. After all, there arent any XC trains anymore.

The branch upgrade is capable of supporting an hourly local passenger service in addition to the seasonal London services. They might not be as busy as in the past but I don’t believe the London trains run anywhere near empty so hopefully they will remain a fixture of the summer timetable.

And that's surely the only reason the second platform at Newquay has been reinstated. It's not required for the hourly local service.

How complete / accurate is the May ‘25 timetable as per Realtime Trains?
I’m comparing Ashley Down to Bristol Temple Meads on Sundays now and after the May timetable change and it looks like it’s reduced from an already meagre 6 per day to a pretty useless 3 per day with the first service at 1645! I’m hoping that’s not the true picture…

Still some services to come in as some routes have the occasional missing service.

Northern have updated their May 2025 timetable page, confirming the 6 carriage 331s in Yorkshire and the 6 carriage 323s in the North West, but currently lacking actual timetables with them coming ‘very soon’.
It states that some Leeds North West diagrams will be six carriage 331s - These can be deduced by the services that do not use platform 3B at Leeds and platform 1 at Skipton.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but looks like there’s an xx:20 and xx:50 service from Kings Norton to New St (for camp hill line). Not a passenger service, but shows it being a runs as required shuttle between Kings Norton and New st. xx:27 and xx:57 from New St to Kings Norton too.

I can't understand why they're giving 3 trains an hour to Ince when I've never seen anybody get on or off there on a train that has stopped there and I'm not happy about the fact that they're swapping the 331s out for 323s on Blackpool - Airport (especially during the summer, commuting will be painful without aircon) but hopefully these new trains they've ordered will rock up soon enough and make it worth the yellow lighting and narrow seats...

I've seen quite a few people use it at peak times (I've used it once, but just to waste time).

Maybe the stops will encourage more usage, but it's primarily for 769s to change to/from diesel/electric, which they can only do while stopped.

331 aircon doesn’t work half the time anyway, your much better on a 323 where you can open a window. Gives much better overall ventilation, especially at speed.

On a side note, Northern’s message this timetable change seems to be: if you live on an electrified line, we’ll be nice to you. If you live on a non electrified line, we don’t care.

TPE have schedules uploaded on RTT on the 17th stopping at Northern only stations. This can’t be right surely. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:N57637/2025-05-17/detailed
Whilst Mirfield East/Thornhill LNW Jns are shut, TPE will be running a Huddersfield to Man Vic semi-fast service, replicating the 2Ixx stopping pattern of Brighouse, Sowerby Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge, Todmorden, Walsden, Littleborough, Smithy Bridge, Rochdale & Man Vic
At the same time, TPE will temporarily take over the 2Txx stoppers between York and Leeds.

Both of these changes are to allow Northern to strengthen the 1Jxx and 1Dxx/1Exx Calder Valley services, as well as running the 2Ixx via Halifax, as they will be the only direct Manchester to Leeds services running

A similar thing will happen again for the 30 day closures of Huddersfield Station I believe

Paths are in and will be used as required for route learning. Mainly New St crews plus the few Worcester drivers that don’t sign it. Public service is nowhere near starting.

On the ScotRail side of things, I see the 09:42 out of Inverness on weekdays will be going to Edinburgh Waverley after the timetable change instead of Glasgow Queen Street which it currently does now.

Still a 170 booked diagram as well.

Any gen what is happening with the Avanti Euston to Blackpool North direct services?

Looking at weekdays from 19th May on ticketing sites, the current 7:16/11:16 north and 11:51/15:51 direct services via new Street are not showing despite RTT displaying the retimed 11:38/15:51 diagram. The evening Blackpool North service is retimed at 17:40 from Euston.

I thought Avanti were considering reinstating Blackpool North services via the Trent Valley route. Wonder if these current missing paths via New Street may be used to reinstate direct Glasgow services.

They are on realtime trains, but showing as 'running as required', akin to a freight working. That means they haven't confirmed whether they are running or not, hence they're not showing in booking engines.

I'm not sure why any of this is, I was also under the impression that they'd reintroduce a few direct via Trent Valley services.
