A PINNER man who was on the tracks at Harrow and Wealdstone station this morning has been detained under the Mental Health Act.
The 55-year-old was not killed, as initially reported by transport staff, but narrowly avoided being hit by the 7.38am Northampton to Euston service.
London Overground, London Midland and Virgin Trains traveling to and from Euston through Harrow and Wealdstone were suspended after the incident.
British Transport Police gave control of the line back to Network Rail at 9.25am.

Note: I was caught up in it. There were trains backed up from Harrow to the north. Both mainline southboaund platforms had trains in them - platform 6 had the euston bound 08.31 LM service, and platform 4 had a Euston bound Pendolino. Just in front of this pendolino was the LM service in question, which had come to a halt before the next southbound fast track signal after Harrow. If it was doing 100mph, that seems like an impressive stopping distance.
