I don't often see Meridians so I don't know if this is normal or a quirk of this unit, but I noticed that the doors on it are several colours. The driving cars have a white door and a maroon/purple/whatever-that-colour-is door for contrast I presume (though at least one of 003's driving cars has both doors maroon), but I noticed that one end of 60931 has a bright red door with an orange stripe while the other end is maroon, while 60641 has one end maroon and the other end white, but 60552 has maroon both ends.

Is there a pattern or explanation to this, does anyone know?

Non-contrast doors are crew only. Contrasting doors are for passenger (and any other) use.

On XC Voyagers the door at the far end with First Class is (in theory) available for passenger use, but on Meridians it leads directly to the kitchen/prep area.

The red door is what all the Meridian passenger doors look like under the vinyl - either the vinyl has come off or been replaced with an unvinyled one.

The very end door at the first class end should be purple as this is a staff door for the kitchen. There is another staff door next to the buffet which is white while the passenger ones are purple. At the standard class end there is a white door for contrast. The red door that you spotted is part of the old East Midlands Trains livery probably where the door has been replaced at some point.

Yes, that red door looks like the old Stagecoach EMT livery to me. Similarly, I once saw an Arriva Trains Wales class 158 which had presumably had some of the door leaves replaced by a spare (or taken off a different unit) in the 'wrong' livery - photo here - there were actually elements from three different liveries on that one coach!
