Is there a platform that come out from the front that allows passengers to evacuate from one train to another given the front doors wont line up?
From what I know the intention is to totally convert each line in turn to operation by 777s though this policy will see mixed operation on Southport and Chester services due to the greater number of sets required and the need to keep 14 x 507s for use on those two lines until Network Rail or GBR complete the work required to allow 8-car 777 formations. If lines are converted does this mean all services on a line will be operated entirely by 777s from that point onwards or will we see a mixed fleet on the same line at some point? If Ormskirk/Kirkby services are 777s and Southport/Hunts Cross aren’t then we will see both running through the core section in the tunnel won’t we?
That's the Netherlands though. You have to factor in UK beauracracyI remember a poster who drives in the Netherlands said, AIR, that for brand new trains training lasted a week!
There’s some kind of walkway arrangement but I don’t know if it will be used by passengers. Is there a platform that come out from the front that allows passengers to evacuate from one train to another given the front doors wont line up?

There’s meant to be an elaborate walkway designed in Switzerland that connects the 2 off centre “detrainment” doors but there are no pictures of them.Presumably you'd go down to the track and back up?
Yeah something like that. Is there any way we can get a picture of it being tested?"Electrical Front door combined with a sliding step for front evacuation and detrainment between two units (patented)"
Sliding step and barrier for train-to-train evacuations, ladder for evacuations to track.
It's being displayed as an exhibit at the upcoming Rail Live event.I’ve just seen on Crewe Railcam a 777 apparently heading to Long Marston. Seems a strange place to go. According to RTT it’s just passing Norton Bridge. Anyone know why it’s going there?

Merseytravel have announced that the next stage of testing will start from today, with trains out and about during normal service hours on the Northern line.
Looks like someone jumped the gun as the post has now been removed/hidden.
There is a path tonight from Hooton to Helsby and return. No idea whether it is a trial or not.
1938 from Hooton. Listed as freight.
There is then a path from Hooton to Crewe Basford Hall at 2107. No idea if they are linked.
All pure speculation on my part...

Any more news of them entering service?
These are testing/mileage accumulation runs, crew training won’t start until enough units have been accepted.
Aye, was just listing the hard milestones required to actually get a unit into service, not the ones involving the politics of the squishy things up front (and back, hopefully).Crew training won't start until there is a union agreement regardless of how many units there are. Sadly that's a long way off.
