Was onboard 016 + 017 an hour ago, brilliant motors coming off 016, rheostatic came on once for some reason inside the dingle tunnel but then cut off again at the end, before approaching Brunswick
I filmed them leaving Moorfields earlier, took some pics but they are too big to upload here, 016 was the last one I needed to see! Finally got it last October, seen it every time since!!

That will be the noisy track in Dingle Tunnel rather than 016's rheostatic, which is not functional. I don't know what it is that causes the noise, but presumably it is to do with improving grip amidst leafy sections of the network. It is very evident between the approach to Brunswick and Aigburth, as well as around Maghull on the Ormskirk line.

I do agree 016's motors in 64382 are rather nice, but they don't quite compare with 018.

507001 is currently operating 2U11 to Hunts Cross and will also operate 2S14 back to Southport for anyone interested.

507023 + 507033 is also on the Southport to Hunts Cross and has just arrived at Southport from 2S12. Will be doing 2U18 back to HNX.

A new six-car has joined the Southport line party in 507003 and 007, which formed the 12.42 Southport- Hunts X. Due to delays en route, the pair ran fast from Central to South Parkway which was a treat.

There was some sort of fault apparent as the saloon lights on 003 were off on arrival at Central and a Stadler engineer complete with laptop was also on board. On the way back the rheostatic from 007 sounds brilliant; this unit is my current favourite. 003 also seems to be running much better in recent days and is kicking up a fair speed here.

507001 and 015 are still out, currently half an hour behind on the 13.12 Southport - Hunts X and 14.21 return.

Should be back out (with 017) to work 2U40 1527 Southport to Hunts Cross

507003 & 507007 replaced 507023 & 507033 earlier this afternoon, with 023 & 033 heading to Birkenhead North depot.
Could 2S22 have been 033's final passenger working, I am led to believe it's due to be withdrawn next (along with 028 which may have already finished earlier this week).

507003 and 007 have been switched around at Southport with 007 now at the 'Port end. The two arrived in platform 1, were split, then ran in turn into platform 2 where they were re-coupled. Clearly some sort of testing was taking place with this set, with bells being rung at various points instructing the driver to shut off power or brake.

In fact, it took so long to rearrange these units, the 15.12 is now 'semi-fast' to Sandhills. Two fast runs in one day - fantastic!

Still unmoved at Southport is 507011, whilst 507016 and 017 are in platform 3 to form the 15.27 as mentioned.

Edit: A 507 has appeared on the Wirral Line: 507010 on the 17.38 New Brighton - Liverpool - New Brighton circuit. This set should be out into the night on late duties.

The bells will almost certainly have been caused by a coupler fault and is a relatively recent problem with the 50X fleet, which explains them being remarshalled at Southport. Instructing the driver when to take power or brake would never be done using bell codes.

Last night shift tonight, here are the current allocations, a single set on one of the Southport diagrams, but 507010 is out on New Brightons
