I can confirm 555013 and 555015 arrived yesterday (dont ask me why they jumped from 555005 to 555013/15, you'd have thought 06/07 would have been next)
At least they're arriving in Newcastle! I wonder why they're not in numericle order! Thanks for the update.

From my memory 4070 was also in that line of withdrawn units, has it moved?(If it hasn't then from memory it would be between 4037 and 4063)

Also are units 4063, 64, 34 and 20 all on the "right" side of the main entrance gates?

I think it's fair to say though, all of them units probably won't be seen in service again.

4070 wasn't in the line so must have been moved.

4037 is the last unit to the left of the main entrance gates and 4063, 64, 34 & 20 are all on the right side.

On a recent video posted by Nexus about the new depot there are 7 Metros and a battery loco in 3 of the sidings at the Regent Centre end of the depot. 4070 is the one closest to the depot, but the others can't be identified. Apart from those on the avoiding line and 4040 the only others I haven't noted recently are 4011, 4025, 4029, 4033 & 4072, Does anyone know which Metros they are?

Was up in the region last week I saw 4033/4072 in the sidings along with 4071 all with the pans down. I don't think 4072 has been in service much in recent times and 4033 seems to alluded me on the last couple of visits so I suspect this may of been out of action for a while.

Out of all the long term units out of service, it seems only 4059 is back in action.

Sadly I doubt the situation will ever improve until the new fleet properly comes in.

If the pans are down they are either withdrawn or under repair. The air systems are so leaky if they put them down they may not get them up again.

Went on the metro on Sunday and this is what I spotted:

In service: 4038 4089 4044 4058 4086 4032 4056 4003 4012 4073 4018 4014 4066 4004 4071 4027 4082 4057 4036 4028 4017 4024 4008 4026 4084 4007 4067 4050 4021 4046 4081

Depot: 4088 4069 4040 4011 4039 4033

(Not all trains in service and in the depot that day but most)

Also nothing in Howdon.

Can anyone tell me me what 4086 has been paired with this week. I travelled on it Thursday but deleted the rear car from my phone.

4090 was extremely smooth on Friday night, Seems to be running on new wheels. It felt as smooth as an inter city train! Well done Metro.

Maybe it's had new springs in its seats.
Seats?? Do you not mean "foot rests"? I cant stand feet on seats!!!
No, it felt like new wheels have been fitted instead of feeling that my fillings had been shaken out, this was a smooth ride.
I'm sick of waiting for the new trains though!!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I’m working on a full update to the list and hope to have this done in the next few days.

The avoiding line has been cleared of units. All units that were on the avoiding line are now stored within the confines of Gosforth depot.

Interesting update, wonder if this means we may see some going for scrap now? I also wonder if they were moved under their own power or by a battery loco.

I don’t think too much can be read into it. The avoiding line was available to Stadler during the depot rebuild but was required to be handed back to Nexus afterwards.
With 555 deliveries still on hold indefinitely there isn’t currently a pressing need to get rid of the defunct Metrocars, stabling space is no longer as limited as it was a few months ago.

Most if not all of the units that were on the avoiding line aren’t operable. Certainly 10 and 76 aren’t operable, both have visibly been robbed of components. Movement will either have been with a battery loco or with the assistance of an operational unit, unsure which it was.

Any updates on the list in the OP, Dan? I suspect it will be looking even more colourful than it already is and we are still no where near the first train entering service.

I’m still working on it, been struggling info on the latest units to give up. I’m planning to do a research trip tomorrow, see which units are in service that day on the network and which ones in the depot visible from Cheswick Drive are visibly non-operational, then finish the list after that so hopefully up some point tomorrow evening or Friday.

A friend and I note the Metros we see each time we travel and there's a few we haven't seen for a while.

It may be that we've just not seen them and they are still in service, but here's the list and the last month we noted them in case it's of interest.

4011 Nov 23, 4025 Dec 23, 4033 Sept 23, 4042 Jan 24, 4051 Jan 24, 4069 Jan 24, 4072 Sept 23, 4088 Jan 24

Those units I didn't see on my last visit(January) up there either. 4033, 4072 and 4088 I've definitely not seen for a while and 33 was seen in the depot with the pantograph down.

Can confirm 42 as stored. There were two other UID metrocars stored, along with all the long time stored units. Full update to the op list coming tomorrow

Edit:
List in the op now updated, sorry it's taken me so long.

Changes are two additional units known to be stored (37 and 42), changes to storage locations and return to service of previously under attention units.

Amazingly we're actually up three units in the operational fleet compared to the last update, no doubt that won't last long!

Any update on 11, 25, 33, 51, 69, 72, 79 and 88 would be appreciated. :)

You mentioned 'The avoiding line has been cleared of units. All units that were on the avoiding line are now stored within the confines of Gosforth depot.' However in the list 1, 10, 60 & 76 are still noted as being on the avoiding line.

Just seeking clarification that hey have been moved. Thanks

Those four were still on the avoiding line on Thursday, I had previously thought they’d moved. Apologies for the confusion.

Just up at Gosforth Depot. 33 is being moved around as I speak didn’t catch which number it’s coupled up with though . No graffiti or anything on there, but there’s seems to be a lot going on as a lot of trains being moved around
