I do wonder how much time you would actually lose running either 350s or some sort of 110mph 444 on a half hourly all shacks to Leicester compared to current timings.
You could run pairs of five car sets and split at Leicester if you wanted, giving half hourly "slow" services to Nottingham and Derby. (I assume 230m will fit the platforms at St Pancras?)
Nottingham would retain an hourly "fast" train that would actually run fast, with only a stop at Leicester.
Reduction in average wait time for trains would probably make up for the slightly longer journey times on the "slow" services.
