Good evening,

I'm travelling on the Midland Pullman next weekend. I've read on Facebook the air conditioning failed in some carriages on the railtour from Eastleigh to Cornwall a couple of weeks ago. One customer has posted on their Facebook page complaining about this and said LSL had washed their hands of the matter.

Is this an ongoing problem with the Midland Pullman?

Air conditioning in most rolling stock of that era (HSTs, 158s etc) was designed to only operate up to a maximum outside temperature of around 28c as that was the ‘extreme high’ at the time of design. The prolonged heatwave will have just pushed the aircon to its limits.
