Milton Keynes Central to Reading return on Saturday - best value fare?

I need to be in Reading by around 10 on Saturday morning and can commit to a specific train outgoing but need flexibility on the return which will be between 4-5pm.

I have a senior railcard and an oyster card with senior railcard added.

An off peak day return appears to be £38.20 before the forum's site starts offering me splits etc.

My first thought was an MKC-Zone 6 return with a Zone 6-Reading extension if that is possible.

Then, as Reading and Bletchley are now, I think, in the "touch your bank card and go" area I wondered if that might be the cheapest route as I can start from Bletchley rather than MKC.

Comments/Advice appreciated, thanks.

I'd have thought a London Northwestern only Milton Keynes to London Zones 1-6 Super Off Peak Day Travelcard costing £16.95 with a railcard plus a Boundary Zone 6 to Reading Off Peak Day Return (via Slough) costing £10.75 will take some beating.

Thanks very much - that's what I'll go for.

Just wanted to pass on a compliment to those on this forum who provide such fantastic advice.

Saturday morning at the ticket office in CMK I asked for my Super Off Peak Day Travelcard and my BZ6-Reading Off Peak Day Return (via Slough) very explicitly.

As he sold me the tickets the very pleasant chap asked where I'd got that info from and when I replied "rail forum UK" he smiled and said "we get lots of people here taking their advice" and commented that it was very good.

So well done folks!
