I’m just looking for clarification to be sure that’s I’m right.

The 16-25 has a minimum fare of £12 before 10:00 travel, does this mean that any ticket with the railcard should be charged a minimum of £12?

It sounds silly but I mean if I have a ticket for £15, and I apply the 16-25 railcard; will I be charged £12, or will the system / booking office, say that it’s not valid?

Thanks!

Unless it’s an advance ticket, as they’re not subject to the pre-10am rule. In which case your £15 ticket will benefit from the full third off.

In this case the £15 ticket is an anytime single being purchased pre-10am at a ticket office, so I would only be given £3 off (to £12), rather than the full 1/3

You do need to be careful to request the £12 fare. They could issue you the £10 fare instead which would be invalid before 10am.
