If you miss a bus, you might not have to wait too long for the next one to come along - unless you are waiting for the bus from Milton Keynes to the village of Henlow in Bedfordshire.

The route only runs four days in the whole year and it is not the only questionable public transport service in Britain as travel expert Simon Calder has been finding out.
The video then goes on to discuss the 'parliamentary' rail service between Shepherd's Bush and Wandsworth Road, and Stockport to Stalybridge gets a brief mention.

I live not far from Henlow, and we do get plenty services like this in this part of Beds. Some of them are surprisingly well patronised - basically a local coach company runs them more as shopping excursions to MK and Cambridge than anything else.

However, Central Beds council has no interest in bus services. There used to be a comprehensive service from Biggleswade & District, but Stagecoach came in, took over and cut back. Now all they run is a very expensive service to Bedford, while B&D just do school services. A decent sized town like Biggleswade has had it's links to the two main regional centres of employment, Cambridge and MK, cut down to twice-weekly at best.

So it's not surprising that it's become the kind of town where people living a 10-minute walk from the town centre complain about lack of parking, and half the pavements are impassible due to cars parked on them.
