Hey guys,

has anyone had an interview In The past with DB cargo for mobile operative. Just wondering if the interview will have competency based questions or is it more relaxed with the usual what do you know about the company type questions. Any advice or pointers much appreciated.
Thanks.

I had an assessment for that job (which would have included an interview on the day had I'd passed). The practice material did state that the interview would be competency based. Have you had your paper assessments yet?

Thanks for the reply. It’s actually my brother in law who’s applied for the role. He done the English, maths, mechanical comprehension at home in a computer with them watching him via a camera. I’m in the industry as a driver already but this is the first job he’s applied for on the railways.

Well congratulations to him for passing the mechanical, it was rock hard for me. Good luck to him for the almost certainly competency based interview.

Hello,

what depot has he applied for? I found my interview very relaxed. I already work on wagon maintenance so had some knowledge of what they would ask. I was successful, I’m just waiting for a medical and start date.

Hi mate. Thanks for reply. He’s applied for Essex. So I suppose that would be barking or tilbury I’m guessing. He’s got lots of experience working on building sites and is a qualified crane slinger so safety critical experience.

told him to brush up on star technique for the questions and devised some questions that I thought they could ask, for example,

a time you,

worked in a team,

communicated an important message,

solved a problem,

etc, etc

plus the usual company specific ones.

well done on getting the job, it’s a great industry, with opportunities to progress, I’m sure you’ll love the new role.

That’s about got everything covered, I did a lot of research into DB through lads on the ground and online. The interview is very safety based for obvious reasons. They will have emailed him some interview tips attached to his invite to a interview. I felt very comfortable in the interview even the 2 people interviewing me said you’ve got past the hard part doing your assessment this is the easy bit.
