In another world I'm a member of the Lambretta Club of Belgium, for old Italian scooters. Every year a large event called "Euro Lambretta" is held in a European country. This year it was in Adria, Italy.

Europes biggest Lambretta club is in the UK so it's often quite a journey for a lot of people.

This year I saw one group had taken their bikes on a DB train between Innsbruck <-> Düsseldorf to shorten the journey.

Has anyone heard of this service? I'll try to find some pictures but it sounded more like a dedicated carriage for bicycles than a full motor rail service.

I have seen manu times motorbikes on DB Autotrains. But do not know how it is now as the austrian railways are now in charge.

So yes it is still possible. from the Oebb website. These are the lines:
Vienna, Graz, Villach and Feldkirch
Vienna and Hamburg, Düsseldorf
Innsbruck and Hamburg, Düsseldorf
Vienna and Livorno, Verona

This is the (english) link: http://www.oebb.at/en/leistungen-und-services/mehr-als-zug/auto-motorrad-am-zug

Also operating AutoZug services are two private operators:
Hamburg - Lörrach/Innsbruck/Verona/Villach with UrlaubsExpress https://www.urlaubs-express.de/
and Düsseldorf - Livorno/Verona with TreinReisWinkel http://www.treinreiswinkel.nl/reizen/autotrein

However, unlike the ÖBB services which run daily all year round these services run only on certain days according to seasonal demand.

In the past there were services running from 's-Hertogenbosch, these are not running this year but might return in the future.

Almost certainly the new OeBB Nightjet which has replaced the DB Munich service.

I have seen the Vienna service in its older version with a substantial load of bikes - and middleaged bikers. They took ages to strap down! (The bikes, not the bikers.)
