Hiya folks, I have searched the forums for this information but to no avail.

Network Rail have a fleet of MPV vehicles for various purposes. However the thing I need to understand is the numbering.

Which TOPS class do they fit into?

Are they counted as units with a number for each coupled pair, plus individual vehicle numbers, or is each vehicle separate for the purposes of numbering?

Finally does anyone have or know of a fleet list for the units with any details, for example I understand some might be power-trailer units and some are power-twin?

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

The paired (Master + Slave) MPVs are numbered
98901 + 98951 (add 50 to get the Slave unit number)
98902 + 98952
etc up to
98925 + 98975

The paired (Master +Powered Slave) MPVs are numbered
98926 + 98976
to
98932 + 98982

There are other "MPVs" eg the 97011-97014 and 98001-98014 used for OHL/Electrification work, and 932nn/983nn that have a single number but can have multiple vehicles.

An odd one out in the DR98xxx range is DR98008 which is twin-cabbed and usually runs around on its own

Thank you for your help folks. All being well I should be ticking the HS1 ones tonight, so that will help me record them correctly.

Much appreciated!

If you are looking for a “class” they have TOPS code YXA, although there will no doubt be other vehicles with the same code.

I came across 'rail record' some time ago, which has quite a few subject areas.
This one, On Track Plant Guide, might be useful.

I believe it is reasonably upto date with regards the running specific information it displays.

Does anyone know if the Pink Cab one is still around? Haven't seen that in quite a few years

My apologies!
I thought I added, https://www.ontrackplant.com to my orginial post as an edit. But clearly it didn't take the change.

On Track Plant is also a useful place to look.

The pink cab one or NRs DR98926 / DR98976 as its numbered was apparently last spotted / listed as being at Reading on 16 Nov 2019. No other details listed I'm affriad.

Edit:
I believe it was on the Wessex side of Reading (Reading 456) on the Effingham Jn circuit.
