Sounds like the sort of subtlety that gets lost in a programme intended for a mass audience ...
I thought the programme as a whole was a reasonable portrayal given the constraints of time and the need to hold the audience.
I have noted (often?) what I think are called 'continuity' issues- 2 car trains that become 3 or 4 or 1; this livery becomes that; a train coming this way, goes that way ... but so what; it's a truth of a kind and it keeps my attention, and this posting ... and the blazers ...
I guess he's quite (very) pleased not to have become PM!
Pleased to see he made it into 1938 tube stock on the IoW- though shocking lack of roof paint; perhaps he could have commented on the former tramway on Ryde Pier, though I can see that the Hovercraft and yachts in the Solent were thought (more) worthy- as I did as a kid!
