Activity Editor refuses to work. I can get it open, but everytime I goto create a new activity, I type in the name of the activity, it looks like it's loading and then crashes and comes up with the error "Activity Editor and Tools has stopped working and is not responding" it then closes the programme. Anyone got any ideas??

Also, Tsunpack refuses to work. I've downloaded the fixer off UKTS - but that says it works fine - and it really doesnt. Help??

Works fine for me. I'm still getting the hanging on exit though.

EDIT: Are you on x86 or x64?

EDIT 2: The Compute and Save function does not work for me.

Those that need to know - KNOW!!!
I take it you've searched the Running MSTS on Vista and Activity Creation sections over on UKTS.

I have no problem with the AE, in either XP or Vista

TSUnpack has nothing to do with the activity editor, it is a patch to fix the unpacking of activities into MSTS.

The crash could be caused by too much stock try running through Trainstore and just making the stock you want to use available. Like MSTS the AE will load everything into memory that isnt required.

One last solution is that the registry setting for AE could have become corrupt.... and this little gem took a minute to find ;)

UKTS said:
"If you can no longer see the loose consists and the playback no longer works,
you may need to edit the registy. BE CAREFULL, as this can destroy your computer if you are not carefull.

- Run regedit. (Start->Run->type in regedit then press OK)
- Search the registry for HWRenderer. (Ctrl-F in the regedit window,
then type in 'HWRenderer? in the search field, I search only for
keys). It will take some time to find it during which the regedit
window does not change at all, there is no progress indicator.
- When HWRenderer is Found, on the right window pane click on the
first entry starting with ?AE_ ?, then hold the shift key and click
on the last entry starting with ?AE_?. All the ?AE_? entries
should be selected.
Release the shift key. Press the 'Delete' key and delete all the
entries.
- Start the activity editor.
- Load an activity and ensure that view->service info is checked.
- Select tools->verify starting state
- The consist should appear in the 2D view "

This applies to both XP and Vista.

I had the same problem, but found when I reduced my resolution in Vista to 1024x768 and used 16 bit worked fine.

As Smithy says, make sure you run it on 16bit colours, not 32bit.

If you run in 32bit it will crash within minutes.
