Whilst I don't think you can purchase the ticket onboard as it wouldn't be on dedicated stock.

The other day I was travelling from Bromsgrove and noticed someone asking for a weekly n network all zones with add on, the guard said I can't issue those onboard and suggested to customer to buy at BHM.

Was the guard correct, as the person trying to buy one seemed shocked.

On the Network West Midlands website, the only rail-related outlet that is mentioned for the sale of n-Network tickets is any staffed rail station in the Network area (whereas bus-related outlets include "on bus").

You certainly can issue nTrain with extension on board using Avantix, whether you're meant to is another matter but I've seen it done and they come out as seasons.

If I recall correctly you issue them from for example 'Bromsgrove' to "W MIDS ALL ZONES" (Code I421).

This then offers you the appropriate fare selections for N Train X Boundary 7 day or period.

They're very popular from Narborough as splitting there makes a Leicester to West Mids area season much cheaper.

Full nNetwork tickets I'm not sure though.

Having checked the availability section, it would appear the nNetwork addon itself isn't available on train - "Availability: From selected stations as shown in nnetwork add-on section."

For that very reason I wonder why anyone would pay for a bog-standard Leicester - Birmingham season.

because the advertising of them in Leicestershire is non existent... I didn't know about them until a thread on here.

It sounds like a cliché but "do your research" is what I normally say. There are plenty of web forums around these days where you can ask for advice on all sorts of things so really there is no excuse for being ripped off.
