Has any forum member used one of these passes ? They appear to be excellent value at £79 for seven days / £219 for 28 days unlimited travel on National Express coaches. One return journey, eg from Newcastle to Plymouth, can cost more than £79

I've never seen advertising for them but it's clear from the National Express website that they are available to everyone, not just overseas visitors.

I used one about 20 years ago when it was called the Tourist Trail Pass, and then it also allowed Scottish Citylink travel as back then it was owned by National Express. These days there are usually cheap Funfares on the main routes if you book in advance. But if you are using the non-Funfare routes or not booking in advance it could of course be worth it. The airport services can be particularly expensive.

You do have to pay a reservation fee if you don't want to chance the coach being full.

I quite like the idea of traversing the country by coach and my place in Kent is close to a National Express pick up point with an early up and late down service to/from London. The high cost/no railcard for pre 9am weekday journeys to London by train generally restricts my travel adventures!

Fair point about full coaches. I don't think they often are these days but I guess if I get stranded somewhere I can shell out for a train or b&b.

This may vary a lot by route but on the rare occasion I travel by coach I tend to find they're often full or very close (usually Leeds - London).
