Network Rail application status

has anyone had an experience where the status has gone from:
Application Accepted
Application Unsuccessful
Straight away? Every application I've applied for has always updated to Application under consideration to assesment 2 pending.

I know they are awful with the updates but there has been a few things which make me believe my application wasn't even looked at and they decided to give it internally then pulled it.

I've applied for three vacancies with Network Rail and not passed the paper sift for any of them. Two days after the deadline for one vacancy I received an email from Network advising me I had not been successful and the role had been filled. I can only assume an internal candidate was offered the role in that time scale.
