New offer received from NWR for staff. Offer subject to member referendum.

Looks like TOCs are going it alone…

The RMT union has called off planned strike action at Network Rail on 16 March, after receiving a new pay offer.
The surprise development will raise hopes of a breakthrough in the long-running dispute between rail workers and the rail industry, which had appeared deadlocked.
RMT members at Network Rail will have a referendum on the updated offer.
As things stand, workers at 14 train operating companies will still take industrial action on 16 March.
However with Network Rail workers no longer joining them, disruption will not be on the same scale and is likely to vary by operator....

Does anyone have any details of the new improved offer. I don’t see why details are to follow when only a select few already know, it’s not them that lost £300 a shift on a 12 hour roster.

No details as of yet.

Only received the email about 25 minutes ago (although didn't notice until I saw this thread and checked), so would expect it to come out publicly shortly.

Can confirm I've heard the same. Details will no doubt be public in the next few hours.

I received the message from RMT to members just over an hour ago. It is a little unusual for them not to issue a press release at the same time, but Sky News has now picked up the story.

Just reported on Sky News

"The Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers' union has suspended all industrial action on Network Rail following a new pay offer.

The RMT National Executive Committee said further updates would be given in the coming days.

Strike action was due to take place from 2am on 16 March until 01.59am on 17 March. A ban on overtime had been due to follow.

There is, at the moment, no change in the planned strike action to be taken by RMT members against the 14 train operators represented by the Rail Delivery Group on 16, 18, 30 March and 1 April."

In addition to Sky article, here is the BBC one.

The RMT union has suspended all industrial action at Network Rail after receiving a new pay offer.
Members at the organisation, which employs maintenance workers and signallers, were due to walk out on 16 March alongside train company staff.

Equates to an extra £340 which isn't good enough quite frankly.

The union should have waited until next week to decide so that the train service couldn't be reinstated in time. In addition I was confident the overtime ban was going to cause total chaos. I will be voting no if it's as speculated above. Had my fill of the company now and looking for the exit like many others

Is bringing a pay increase forward by a few months which amounts to a £340 lump sum really enough to buy out the changes to terms and conditions for maintenance workers that have been discussed before?

Does anyone have a view yet what other changes to the offer there might be? Is it just the extra money?

Hypothetically, if this resolves the NR dispute. Is it not a little pointless all the while TOCs are still in dispute? Or can we now expect TOC negotiations at a local level?

That surely depends on how much you earn? It would be different for different people.

AIUI the TOC strike is still on, so most services will still be as per strike plan. (For TOCs involved).

I admire your confidence. From what I’ve heard from the planners, most passengers wouldn’t notice.

Yeah agreed with the overtime ban. There was the potential for a couple of places to experience issues, but certainly not nationwide chaos.

Really? Major London boxes closing on Sundays and much of the north non-passenger all week?

NR now in a nice tight spot as they havent offered the strike plan so will need to provide some TOC KRS plans on top of other TOC WTTs...

I was only looking down South but there were currently no major London Boxes on Southern planned to close on Sunday. There were some big risks, but it looked like they were going to be able to be managed.

At least the government and nr can stop bleating about giving the members a say.

Even though this offer is not close to What members voted to go on strike for

Hopefully do a better job this time then rather than just letting the usual operators slap it over the top of others and never be questioned.

As I sure you know, replanning a whole national timetable in a few working days is never going to be perfect.
