Network rail notice

Hi all,

I apologise if this is obvious but I can onky find a Web page for 8 years ago pertaining to network rail notice periods.

I'm due to start with SWR on 30/09 so when would be the time to hand in notice with Network rail - I'm an operative if that has any impact.

Bands 1-4 can be up to 12 weeks.
Bands 5-8 can be up to 4 weeks (which includes operative)

Both can be less if agreed by both line managers.

You can tell your current line manager that you will be leaving on 30/9 now and your notice period could be included in that notice time.
The more notice you give him the more time he has got to replace you.
It can be a lengthy process as he will have to go to the RAF panel for authority to replace you and then go through the recruitment process.
