Saw a bus with the new Arriva logo on in MK earlier, first time I've seen it actually applied to anything. Previously there were some buses with the new colours but the old logo.

How come it's taken so long to roll out? Will it be rolled out quickly now? Any likely rebranding of any TOCs?

The new logo was introduced at the start of this year, so it's only since then repainted vehicles have had the new logo applied. It was introduced on the paper tickets just before Christmas in the North West, but I don't know if this was the case in the other provincial divisions though.

There will also be a new staff uniform for the bus operations too, although I haven't heard exactly when this is being introduced yet.

There were a few from Heckmondwike depot going around in the new livery and sporting the new logo before Christmas, so it definitely wasn't only introduced from January. Though it was only a few weeks before then that I saw another Heckmondwike vehicle still in the very old mostly-beige livery, so Arriva aren't the most vigilant when it comes to corporate rebrands it seems!

Arriva originally stated that the new logo would only be introduced generally from 2018.

I've seen a couple in Hemel with the new logo this week, look like Stevenage based vehicles on the 300/1.

It looks like there taken away " DB company" I wonder why..

I suspect they are priming it for flogging up. The political pressure on DB in Germany to sort out their own house rather than pursuing their international conquests (much as those conquests are profitable and so bring money into the rump DB, which is a good reason to keep them) is significant.

DB are possibly looking to slim down the operation. Perhaps selling the bus sector, but keeping the railways under a new company

Not sure why they would bother with a new livery, branding and logo if they're planning on selling it !

It's not a rare thing to do at all. It makes it a more attractive package and distances it from its parent.

Yes, but is that really applicable in this case? The Arriva identity is well established and, aside from a discreet "part of DB" strapline that is seen only intermittently, it isn't wedded to the corporate DB brand in the same way that DB Schenker is?

Also, Arriva was never extensively integrated into DB. Whilst DB is under pressure to improve the debt position and avoid any downgrades in its credit rating, and indeed the (part) privatisation of either Arriva or Schenker is suggested as the way to do this, I'm not certain that the livery and fleetname is a reflection of that.

We've had the new logo on buses with the new colours for a good couple of months now. Mostly Optare Solos, which wouldn't be my first choice as a launch bus.

Have to say, the colours don't cope well with grime from road salt, etc.

Well I never thought it was getting pimped up to be sold off... I had first assume it was because DB didn't want to be tared with the Arriva brand just like Cross country trains...

I dont think you would get a single buyer for the company.

So why did Arriva Trains Wales decide that they wanted to be tarred?

Cross Country took a very singular decision not to drape themselves in the Arriva flag and it wasn't because of bad connotations

The Arriva brand isn't just used in the UK, DB use it for buses across Europe.

There was a post on this forum many moons ago about this, and there just didn't want to get tarred with the Arriva name, I dont know why.

I think it was because Cross Country is "allegedly" an Intercity operation, and at the time of the franchise win, Arriva was felt to be too much of a "local train/bus" brand. So, not so much a "tarring".

That's exactly what happened to BR freight in the mid 1990's: Mainline, Transrail, Loadhaul, Rail Express Systems...
