Just received a flier through letter box asking for comments on the following:

Haworth Estates is currently in negotiations with National Rail (NR) in acquiring the site for a sleeper production factory and rail distribution depot to support the upgrade of rail infrastructure. It is expected to create 130 new jobs.

Phase one. A factory producing approx 600,000 sleepers a year
Phase two. A local rail-led distribution depot ,which would be used to store maintenance trains, track, track making materials and used as a base to service and maintain the West Coast rail network.

Yes, heard about this one, the CEMEX factory at Washwood Heath has to go as HS2 ploughs through it.

Network Rail doesn't own Daw Mill.

True but Harworth Estates do own the site since July2013.
This is their second application for planning permission for the site, the first was withdrawn before North Warwickshire Borough Council made a decision. There is plenty of local opposition to the redevelopment , HGV 's going through local villages, no easy access to motorways
