I fancy a day out on Friday 11th Nov.

From Newark Northgate circular via York, Scarborough and Whitby.
Come up with the following plan and was just looking for input regarding prices and timings, if anyone wants to add comments.
  • With the current cancellation have I left enough connection time?
  • Can anyone advise on the cost of the bus services prices?
  • Can I make it any cheaper, split tickets maybe?

I assume you want the class 68 to SCA? A through Advance from NNG is cheaper than the split.
If you want a 68 and "cancellation protection" I would do the trip in reverse - aim for the 1534 ex SCA with the 1634 as backup. This would get you home later and - unless you opt for a break in York - might be more expensive.
Incidentally, that would allow you to use rail as far as Malton outward and avoid the less exciting part of the bus journey.

Thanks, Good suggestion which I will look at.
It's a pity the 07:41 is the first train north of Newark, I am also considering Chesterfield as a starting point that has earlier trains.

Leaving at 0741 you can also do Whitby by rail and come back on the 1300 Coastliner, but significantly more expensive.

I've looked also,
£33.30 NNG - WTB LNER Advance

NNG to SCA £26.80 plus bus fare to Whitby (Price ?), so there's not much difference if any.

The single fare from Whitby to Scarborough (or vice versa) is £6.90; the single fare from Whitby to York is £14 and from Whitby to Malton is £9. Unfortunately these services are operated by different companies and there is no multi-operator ticket which covers both.
