thanks for your advice - i have chosen the SIlverlink Travel Lodge. It deosnt look great but it is cheap and will do me.

I guess i will have to get the coast road bus to town for the first time in 10 years!

Either that or get the bus from Cobalt to Northumberland Park and catch the Metro from there?

thanks - i will do that. It is a good 10 years since i lived in Newcastle!

Looks as if you'll be on the wrong bit for buses up to Northumberland Park. There is one which goes to North Shields, but just about every bus goes along the Coast Rd to Haymarket, and misses the Metro.

So have I, I think it's called The County, or soemthing like that? I should remember, it was only last year!
It is.
Very convenient for the station indeed.
But equally so for the current roadworks and/or station rennovation work right in front!
There's the very new "Sleeperz" hotel a few doors down - a new build on the site which was the wonderful and enormous timber parcels shed.

I would have echoed SkinnyDave's suggestion of one of the Jesmond hotels, but it looks as if DarloRich has now chosen his bed!

Cheers - Sleeperz was full and i have found the Jesmond ones, how can i say, boisterous at times in the past.

is the County the Thistle? If so it was full. The station hotel was full! I had a bit of a nightmare!

I'm not clear if you are still looking for accom?
Yes, the 'County' is the 'Thistle'.

Not all the Jesond Hotels take the stag & hen parties! There's the Imperial Holiday Inn very near Jesmond Metro Stn, and the New Kent Hotel further north, both should be relatively calm.

Jury's Inn in the centre is convenient for the mainline stn., and some of the Guest Houses with NE2 postcodes are very civilised!
