So I have recently changed the station I use (free parking! :) ). However the new station does not have any barriers or check in points (it does have an automatic machine). Clearly this would be seen as Fare evasion?!
Previously I used a flexi season ticket. Because I’ve just started using the station I’ve been using paper tickets but clearly flexi is less expensive. Silly question but how do I tap in?! Can I use the automatic machine? Or is there a way to use an e-ticket?!

Does your TOC offer smartcards? There should be a smartcard validator on the platform. As for e-tickets, you just have it on your phone ready for inspection.

Does it have a validator (sometimes not clearly marked, and occasionally installed on the cheap, tucked away on some existing post or wall, not really in sight line of those arriving / leaving)

If you buy it from a TOC that sells them in that format such as West Midlands.
Flexi Seasons aren't available as e-tickets from any retailer, unfortunately. The industry has insisted on them only being available on smartcards and through the highly limiting sTicket format (which essentially an updated mTicket, being locked into the app and device on which you bought it).

LNER certainly did offer eTicket flexi seasons at one point. There was a link somewhere that generated an eTicket for the current day (PDF and Google Wallet).

It worked pretty well when I used it
