A huge number of cancellations and alterations on Northern this evening due to a lack of traincrew. Shows regardless whether OLR or Private Operator there’s not much difference!! As of 19:45 there are 167 cancellations showing!

I just did a round trip Leeds to Keighley. No problems, polite ticket check both ways, no announcements of the see it, say it variety.

Better for who though? Staff are never going to agree to any changes in their contracts unless you reward them very handsomely. It’s just going round in circles otherwise.

You need to add that it's mostly the West side, the East side runs fine in general with little disruption. Man City played Saturday night and today its Man Utd / Liverpool so you are going to struggle for staff on the West side this weekend.

Why is that? Do they perhaps depend also on Liverpool crews, or crews from elsewhere that are not fully covered?

Probably because the incoming services are crewed by other depots.

They also need a guard for every service and will cancel if one isn't available. There are services worked by guards and drivers from different depots. I've heard of services being worked by a Piccadilly driver and a Buxton guard or a Victoria driver and a Piccadilly guard.
