Hi, I have just had the email saying I have been successful with the application and the questions section, and have reached the standard in the maths and English tests, So I am being called for interview in the next week or so, The interview is an hour and it is then followed by a 3 hr practical/groupwork session?????
I haven't had an interview really since I joined the Prison Service which was 20 odd yrs ago so I was hoping some of you guys and girls could shed some light on what to expect so I can do a bit of swotting for it,
Any pointers would be gratefully appreciated ……………...

Which depot have you applied?

I interviewed for the same role last year with Northern and there was an interview and group exercise but they were only about a half hour each. 4 hrs seems a bit much. The interview was straightforward, obvious questions for the role. Just think customer service, dealing with conflict, emergencies etc. Sure you won’t have any trouble coming up with answers if you’ve been a Prison Officer. Personally hated doing the group exercise.

I'm still waiting to be contacted, I passed the maths and English tests. Can I ask what station you both applied for? Cheers.

What did your group assessment involve? Were you successful? Thanks for any replies

Doesn’t it say in the invite? We had to take a journey on a Northern train beforehand noting the good and bad. In the group assessment we had to discuss this and then come up with an idea to improve the service between us. At the end we had to present this to the observers.

I didn’t get it unfortunately. Feedback was I did well in the interview and I had good ideas in the group assessment but wasn’t vocal enough.
