While travelling up to Scarborough on Saturday, I noticed that in both directions the train had 2 guards onboard - on the way there for the whole distance, and on the way back south of Bridlington. It probably weren't an RPO as I saw both members of staff selling tickets and operating the doors.

I would just like to ask if this is a normal procedure for Northern services on the Yorkshire Coast Line or on other lines they operate?

Thanks.

I’ve seen a guard and a ticket inspector on the 13.44 from Beverley to Scarborough, ex 13.30 Hull, weekdays, but not two guards. So perhaps it is one who is in training.

I have seen this before. I assumed it was staff training because one seemed to be explaining various procedures to the other. I don't know though, I don't work on the railways.

They occasionally have a guard and a ticket person on busy trains coming out of Manchester in the evening. (Hope Valley Line).
