are you a east or west guard?
training is over 13 weeks. roughly consists of;
company induction,
PTS (personal track safety),
signing on and off duty and other paperwork,
signals,
generic traction,
door procedure(s),
depot induction. then you have a week at your depot with your minder.
emergency procedures and reasoning behind them,
tickets and discounts ect. then you will go back to your depot to go out with a minder again.
of what i can remember the medical is;
eye test
colour blindness test
hearing test (in the booth)
drugs and alcohol (pee in a cup)
heart rate
general movements test (any restrictive movements, i.e touch your toes, squats ect)
keep in mind its been the best part of 6/7 years since since i did this, somebody who joined within the last couple of years will have a better idea.
Hey, I'm waiting on a medical myself with Northern for a conductor role.
If i remember rightly training wage is around 20k with it rising after training to around 28k.
Be prepared for a wait my friend.
Where did you apply for?
I don't suppose you have got a date for your medical?
If not, any idea when it will be? I
On a slightly different note, I have emailed HR today to see if there is an update...
fingers crossed
Let us know if you hear back
I did the same and they said it is unlikely that I will be given a start date for this year. It will most likely be middle of next year.
If they said that to me, i'd be more than happy with that. It's just the 9 month expiration date of the application that scares me...
That is something I hope I don't have to find out haha.Worst case scenario, the application expires, do you think you would have to go to another interview after submitting a second application?
