Northern Rail ticket machines - paper tickets?

Just bought a ticket from Burley Park to see it's been converted to white paper. It's not even got the orange bars like you have when you buy on a train or from Avanti. Is this a trial as I got a traditional ticket from here just last month.

It's going to become more common, Penmere and Perranwell on the Falmouth branch also issue these!

As do at least some TVMs at Cambridge, for journeys that don't require traditional magnetic stripe tickets.
