I have just had a couple of days in Nottingham and have noticed that some but not all of the newer trams have 2 numbers at the top corner on the front and back. The fleet numbers is right at the top (for example 2xx) and then above the day there is a number starting (0xx).

Hopefully you can see it on this photo. So what is the number above the door please?

It represents the number of the tram in the order for additional trams delivered for phase 2.

So 216 (the first of the newer ones) is 01, 217 is 02 and so forth.

Some of them had these numbers removed, but not all of them.

As already stated the second number is the Nottingham Citadis batch number. Rather oddly I always found, this number is also stuck on the bulkhead inside the cabs!
