Should really be all (5?) diagrams on a summer Saturday. Given the desire of Londoners to get down to Brighton at this time of year, all trains between the two really should be maximum length.
Both my London-Brighton trip and my Brighton-London trip on Sat 15th were on 12-coach GX stock. (And both were very lightly loaded, even between Victoria and Gatwck.) My previous such trip, a week or so earlier, was also on GX stock both ways, and in that case both were 8-car.
Though in terms of Londoners wanting to get down to Brighton in the summer, in my experience most have a Thameslink mindset these days (whereas a generation ago most would have thought of the Victoria route first); this is no doubt partly because there have been periods without Victoria-Brighton services, and partly because of the concern that GX trains, as used on that route, charge a premium (as does the Victoria route in general of course [albeit it to a less extreme extent] unless you know how to get round it - hence further pushing passengers on to the London Bridge route).
