Hi guys,

A job with TFL has come up, a skilled track operative. I want to apply but having done in the past for these jobs I have never succeeded, I want to know if I am missing any important basics on CV etc, any pointers I should include?

Currently I work for S&T at operative grade, I have been here almost a year but I don't enjoy it, before hand I was part of a PWAY team at another location, being a grade above (Technician) however I often lead teams myself to get work done I was competent in as I was trusted. I was well fitted in my job and I climbed a long way, I hold my COSS, various plant tickets, and all my basics (first aid, lookout etc). I really enjoyed what I ONCE DID, and have always had huge interest in London Underground, but I feel putting my true self across with my interest isn't being taken seriously, I believe I have applied 2/3 times before for these positions but get a no every time.

Any help please?! Job closes in a few days and I really want to get a submission in ASAVP.

Can't really help much I'm afraid, but was there any issue as to why you moved from the pway job you enjoyed to s&t that might be putting new employers off?

Hi mate, quite simple really I loved what I did, heavy hard work and being hands on, just a shame the money was poor with no overtime available, I was doing on call most weeks to get a livable wage. I moved for a considerbly large increase in money and honestly I thought I could adapt with what I was told by others at the time. Overtime when I want, which is great but the work is not for me. It’s very relaxed and we only ever seem to be fiddling with wires and other electrical bits, it’s all light work. I feel I’m getting lazy if I’m honest too.

Sounds like a good enough reason to want to move and you'd not be the first to make a move and want to go back.
A quick Google seems to say that you must have the protection master licence as an essential, sounds like they want someone ready to go. Bear in mind that NR and the tube are on different planets, just as tube drivers are recognised on NR rails and teh other way round...
