The passing of former mayor of Darlington, Joseph Anderson, is marked in The Northern Echo:

A rather nice railway tribute, I thought.

ANDERSON B.E.M. Joseph Alexander of Bank Top Mews, lifelong Railwayman and former Mayor of Darlington, sadly boarded his last train on December 14.
Devoted husband to Margaret, much loved father to Fiona and son-in-law Michael, sorely missed and loved grandfather to Rebecca and Stephen. Joe served the community as Councillor and Mayor, the railway and his town with all his heart, deservedly earning the British Empire Medal for his hard work and dedication but is now free to re-join Margaret so they may enjoy each and every sunrise in the ever after.
Funeral to be held December 29, 1:15p.m., at Darlington Crematorium. Joe's family would like to sincerely thank all the staff at Darlington Memorial and Willow Green Care Home for their care and compassion.
A rather nice railway tribute, I thought.
