Hi
I'm thinking about acceping a position as an operations control manager (a glorified name for a signal panel operator) at the new GTR depot at Three Bridges. I'm currently external to the railway industry and wonder if anyone knows how the GTR rosters work. I know it's a 24/7 operation with a mix of earlies/lates/nights but don't know much more than that at the moment.

Did you find out anymore ? And are you going to take it ?

Hi.
No found out nothing more. All seems quiet about it on this forum. Can't work out whether it will be stressful or boring! Probably both. I'm still awaiting a medical so got time to think about it. What's your situation?

Yeah it does sound like we are in a similar situation. It is also 24/7 working probably 365 days a year. Let me know if you find out more. Good luck!

well i do know for sure that is 24/7 every day - no extra for the bank hols and christmas etc - but thats normal shift work , so i expected that - shift pattern i dont know but its a random mix not a set pattern - i think its a way in to the industry but im just not sure its the right job for me - too many negatives so far - and i havent been impressed with the process as of yet either -
but i will carry on a little longer and see if i actually get any paperwork through - i think if i knew it was a starting wage and that it went up i would be far more tempted to take it - i know its the not the same as a signaller but that get paid vastly more!

Hi,
Yes the job description sounded very interesting which is why I applied - and like you I have no problem with the shifts (provided they are rostered fairly) - that's what you expect when you join the railway. However I've found (as you have) that further info has not been very forthcoming and the job description seems to have changed slightly. I think maybe as it's a new depot a lot of things haven't been decided yet.
I think we both just want to make sure we haven't been sold a dummy!

I also applied for this vacancy, but have heard nothing since either way. Is anyone else in the same boat as me or have rejections been received? TIA.

Hi Twedds74
Might be worth trying to give them a ring (though easier said than done I know...) - I know a few of us have heard one way or another.
