First of all hello all :D great forum!

When digging out some junk from my loft for a model railway that I'm planning I came across an old british rail train ticket that I'm really curious about!

My grandad loved popping over to france and I think this may have been his, sadly no longer with us to ask.

The small ticket was in a larger ticket thing:

If the punched holes relate to the date then this is from 1952

Any information on these would be useful as I'm really curious about the type of trip these would have been for but so far my searches have come up fruitless

I'm particularly interested in knowing what sort of train this ticket would have been for, what type of engine, what type of coaches, steam? diesel?
What would the journey be like? what would the boat be like?

Basically what would a the details of this trip be, ANYTHING would be interesting to me no matter how trivial so if you think you might know please let me know too!
