Has anyone got the times of the trains from Inverness to Kyle/Thurso/Wick between 1985-1994.

Looking for info on the Green/Cream coaching stock.

I did travel on these but did not note times although I did note Headcodes.

Also from memory there were books like 1H87 that gave diagrams so that info is welcomed too.

I have a post in the nostalgia section too.

Thanks in advance.

For starters, until a Scotrail expert shows up, The 1988 summer timetable gives

1010 Inverness-Kyle 1252/1640-1918 THE HEBRIDEAN Observation saloon from 28 May.
1110-1355/1505-1735 relief from 20 June
Sun from 19 June 0925-1203/1405-1641 Observation saloon

IIRC (and your other post confirms) the saloon was a first generation DMU vehicle.

There was also the steam working to Mallaig (yes, it really is that old):
1050 Fort -1220/1340-1530 MTTth or 1530-1715 Sun. ISTR this used the "Tourist" liveried stock as well as the Kyle train (or trains?).

Don't know if they ever appeared on the other workings.

The Far North services and the other Kyle trains are much as given in Bevan Price's post for 1985

Timetable, May 1985 to May 1986.

Inverness to Wick 06:55, 11:35, 17:35
Also (Su, summer only 10:05)
Inverness to Lairg (SuO) 08:05

Thurso served by portions from/to Georgemas Jn.

Wick To Inverness 06:05, 12:05, 18:05.
Also (Su, summer only 11:20, 14:50)
Lairg to Inverness (SuO) 11:10

If the Thurso branch loco needed to be changed, it would double-head a Wick train between Inverness & Georgemas Jn

Inverness to Kyle 06:55, 10:55, 17:55. Also (Su, summer only, at 09:25)

Kyle to Inverness 07:10, 11:10, 17:10. Also (Su, summer only) 14:00

All trains loco hauled (Class 37) until the Class 156 arrived some years later.

The West Highland steam workings used a rake of LNER Tourist liveried mark 1s during the mid eighties (with appropriate branding), which predated the similarly liveried mark 2s utilised on the Kyle line (the class 101 driving trailer was converted for observation car use on the latter route in 1987).

In the summer 1992 timetable, a year when 37s worked passenger trains over the route, Monday to Saturday there were departures from Inverness for Kyle of Lochalsh at 06:45, 10:15, 12:27 and 17:50 (18:36 from Monday June 15th). Return workings from Kyle were at 06:50, 11:35, 15:00 and 17:00. The 12:27 Inverness - Kyle and 15:00 Kyle - Inverness trains were summer only workings which commenced on Monday 15th June.

Four of these services were named; the 10:15 Inverness - Kyle of Lochalsh and 15:00 return were titled the "Highland Heritage", while the 12:27 Inverness - Kyle of Lochalsh and 17:00 return carried the name "Atlantic Heritage".

The class 37 Info site (sample workings page here: http://www.class37info.co.uk/fleetdate.aspx?strdate=17/08/92) suggests that the 10:15, 12:27 and 18:36 Inverness - Kyle trains and 06:50, 15:00 and 17:00 Kyle - Inverness trains were regularly class 37 worked during this period, with one class 37 hauled rake stabling overnight at Kyle of Lochalsh. Two class 37 hauled rakes were sufficient to operate this service, as follows:

Diagram 1
10:15 Inverness - Kyle
15:00 Kyle - Inverness
18:36 Inverness - Kyle

Diagram 2
06:50 Kyle - Inverness
12:27 Inverness - Kyle
17:00 Kyle - Inverness.

On Sundays there were two return trains on the Kyle line: 11:15 & 18:10 Inverness - Kyle, and 10:30 & 15:05 Inverness - Kyle. Both were commonly class 37 hauled during the summer.

Thanks, that explains why I thought they were the same (I DO know the difference between a Mk 1 and a Mk 2 really!)
