I applied for trainee train driver for northern in December, I've passed interview and assessments. I received an email saying I'd met the required standard and now I'm a on hold candidate. Without stating the obvious what does this mean? Anyone been in similar position? What's the expected timeframe?
Cheers for any help.

I suspect it means you're waiting until a medical date is booked in with a confirmed course start date; that's what my application showed at the same stage (and amusingly, still does - I've worked for them for 18 months now!).

Not too long - passed assessment in May IIRC, medical early July to start in August though this was at peak recruitment - not sure if the pace/courses are quite as quick now.

What company was that with?

No idea TBH - it seems recruitment is slower at the moment, probably as a result of the electrification delays and subsequent timetable pushbacks so it's probably a case of sitting tight and waiting for the call unfortunately! HR were always pretty good when I occasionally called to chase things up whilst on hold but could only give the big picture outlook as courses don't get filled that far in advance.

Cheers pal you've been a big help, I don't mind waiting as long as I know what's going on. I'm not going to get too far ahead of myself and I'm prepared for the long wait.
