I had the misfortune to join the late running 1208 from Newport to Shrewsbury today. Bearing in mind this train serves, Cardiff, Newport, Hereford, Shrewsbury and on to Manchester, is a 2-car sprinter really the best that can be provided? The train was full and standing from Newport at least as far as Shrewsbury, where I alighted, but from the numbers on the platform, I have no doubt the overcrowding continued. I notice also that the train kept losing time at every stop, no doubt because of passenger transfer delays. Is this the norm for this route? Was there a special reason why more than 128 passengers wanted to travel over what seems to be a relatively important secondary route?

I believe that service is diagrammed a three car 175, not a two car 150 with half the number of seats. The 175s aren't having a good couple of months.

In addition the previous service, 1125 Cardiff Central to Holyhead was cancelled. Passengers from this service would have boarded your train.

Fair enough, but the guard could at least have apologised with an explanation. Thanks for the update
