Trains at 0740 and 0939 - 4 coaches each. 1139 and every 2 hours: 5 cars. Except 1539 which was cancelled. On a day with predictable extra demand because of the Parklife festival in Manchester. No Oxford- Leeds either.

What were the other units doing?

Some units are trapped south of Oxford as a result of the Nuneham Viaduct works (which has since re-opened).

Plus, Bristol to Birmingham is back to every 30 minutes for the majority of the day too. Add to the fact that one Voyager toasted itself at Wolverhampton yesterday, and another unit's brakes failed at Gloucester this morning, there's simply not enough available.

Were there ever any more outbased at Eastleigh depot than needed to run the separate Bournemouth - Didcot service? I don’t believe they were ever “trapped”, they’ve been rotated via other available routes throughout the works period.

Reading to York/Newcastle service is temporary not running due to engineering works north of Derby which have been taking place for the last 2 weeks. This means a diversion adding a hour into the Scotland-South West service meaning more units are required on this route and should be back to normal on Monday.

The Manchester to Bristol/Paignton route is also back to full strength which interworks with the Manchester - Bounemouth route. As far as I know the former has always been worked by a single 4/5 car unit with some cases terminating at platform 1 at Bristol which can only hold up to a 5 car.

5 car 22x is too long for platform 1 at Bristol TM. Could pretty much just fit a 5-car 150+158 combo but officially it should be planned as 4-car max.
